Hair Replacement Treatment

You must realize that there are a lot of disadvantages with hair replacement procedures that have to be taken into account before giving a thought to hair transplant as hair loss treatment. The disadvantages include scarring, a kind of deformity called cobbling and the disinclination of new hair to take root on the scalp. There are about 200,000 physicians who perform hair-transplant procedures in the US but not many have succeeded in hair loss treatment. Probably what one has to look out for is the physician who uses plugs to restore hair on the scalp. This procedure is considered to be obsolete and results in the growth of hair as we see on a doll’s head.
The often seen form of hair loss replacement treatment is the grafting of hairs from the sides and behind the head. Then, transplantation of hair is carried out individually on the bald spots of the head. While performing surgery, doctors use a mild anesthetic to prevent the patient from experiencing pain. To relieve pain post-surgically, doctors recommend a dose of Tylenol.
You must also bear in mind that hair transplant surgery is not a magical hair loss treatment solution. The results are usually subjective. Even after the transplants get fixed, you will still look bald for many months until the hair grows in length. The rate of growth of transplanted hair is about ¼’ to ½’ a month. If the total growth of hair does not start in the first session, then you will end up with a patch of hair on the scalp that may look even more unattractive than baldness itself. It must also be remembered that every time you have to redo a transplant it will take twice as long for hair to grow. The result is that transplants that have been replaced may grow as little as 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch every month.
If hair loss was result of a disease or an accident, only then health plans pay for hair replacement surgery. In case you are an actor or model, you could claim the amount spent on hair replacement surgery as a deduction under income tax. If maintaining a certain image is important for you, you can’t wear a hairpiece over the transplants. The reason is that wigs and toupees impede the healing of the scabbing around the implants and delay the growth of new hair. In order not to get disappointed with hair transplant surgeries, ensure that the qualifications of the doctor are as per the requirements before you sign the agreement. A good surgeon will showcase at least a dozen “before” and also “after” hair loss treatment case photos for you to review his credentials.
